We believe that the best place to train teachers effectively in the highly complex art of teaching is in schools

Secondary PGCE

The Chiltern Training Group PGCE course trains individuals to teach the 11-16 age group for all subjects except business studies which is 14-19. We are accredited by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) for Qualified Teacher Status provision (QTS) and validated by the University of Hertfordshire for the Post graduate certificate in education (PGCE) and Professional graduate certificate in education (PgCE).

Our School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) offers a different style of learning to a traditional university based course but leads to the same qualification. We believe that the best place to train teachers effectively in the highly complex art of teaching is in schools.

Lectures and training sessions are delivered by serving teachers, headteachers and other educational professionals and trainees are based at one of our schools throughout their training year.

The course is run in collaboration with partnership schools that all provide trainee placements. We also work with a number of primary and middle schools and FE Institutions to help trainees gain experience in consecutive key stages.
