The Chiltern Training Group provides secondary School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) for which Challney High School for Boys (CHSB) is the lead school. This provision has been graded outstanding by Ofsted.
A strong tradition of CPD has grown out of this provision and the strategic partnership with Denbigh High School under an Executive Principal since September 2008 was designed to support a continuum for school improvement through excellent CPD.
Both schools offer particular strengths in CPD. Denbigh through an acclaimed sports specialism, Leadership Partner School activity, accreditation for the delivery of specific teaching programmes and its role as the lead school for the Chiltern cluster of the Middle Leadership Development Programme (MLDP).
CHSB' s effective CPD practice was awarded the TES Award for ‘Outstanding Training and Development’ in June 2009 and the school was one of the first to receive the Investors in People Gold Award in December 2010. Its provision for science has national recognition and it regularly leads training sessions for partner primary and other schools.
